Cryo:one PLUS
Our cryo:one+ electric cryotherapy chamber delivers whole-body cold therapy. By exposing your entire body to a new level of cold you are encouraging your blood to flow to the torso, insulating and protecting all your essential organs. As the body undergoes a physiological reaction to dramatic cooling at temperatures below –80°C, any inflammations and pains are alleviated by the cold air.
Whole-body cryotherapy reduces the production of the stress hormone cortisol which boosts your metabolism and allows your muscles to relax. In addition, the body reacts by producing more collagen – an essential requirement for healthy skin.
As well as helping athletes recover from training, competitions or a sports injury, cryotherapy also assists athletes with pain reduction in muscles and joints whilst simultaneously relaxing, and regenerating target areas of the body.

Cryotherapy vs CoolSculpting
Cryotherapy is a recovery procedure designed to heal sore muscles and reduce inflammation post-workout. CoolSculpting is designed to reduce fat cells in areas that are hard to train with traditional diet and exercise.
Cryotherapy vs a cold bath
Cryotherapy utilises temperatures of -120°C, while an ice bath doesn’t make it below -45°C and you would have to sit in it for close to 30 minutes which can be incredibly dangerous. Cryotherapy uses dry cold to reduce the skin’s temperature while an ice bath uses wet cold. Wet cold can cause muscle tissue to congeal and render it immobile.
Cryotherapy vs heat therapy
Thermotherapy affects your body in a completely different way to cryotherapy. Whereas cryotherapy will reduce blood flow, thermotherapy will increase it.
Thermotherapy and cryotherapy are typically used to treat muscle-related pain. Cryotherapy should be used immediately after injury, whereas thermotherapy should only be used when inflammation has reduced.
FAQ
What is a Cryotherapy Chamber?
Cryotherapy is a form of treatment that uses cold temperatures to therapeutic effect.
Whole-body cryotherapy immerses your entire person in extremely low temperatures for a few minutes. This can offer health benefits for your whole body.
Whole-body cryotherapy (WBC) is used to treat chronic pain from conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis or osteoarthritis, as well as general ligament and muscle pain. The treatment uses extremely low temperatures (below minus 80 degrees centigrade) to stimulate the body.
During a WBC session, you enter a pod in a swimming costume or shorts and t-shirt, along with socks, gloves and mouth and ear protection that we provide. The cold air in pod cools the skin to around five degrees Celsius, triggering the release of endorphins and inducing the body’s natural pain relief system.
This process can relieve pain and inflammation associated with various health conditions, for several weeks at a time.
It is also increasingly used by elite athletes to aid recovery, condition muscles and get the most out of their training.
How long can you stay in the chamber?
When you arrive for your Cryotherapy session, we will first ensure that it is safe for you to get in the chamber. We will review your medical history and check your blood pressure. Then you will get changed into the appropriate personal-protective-clothing. Depending on your cryotherapy experience, you will be in the cryochamber for 2 ½ to 4 minutes. The whole process usually takes 20 minutes to half an hour.
What are the benefits to cryotherapy?
The list of cryotherapy benefits is extensive, the most common reason that many top athletes use cryotherapy is its ability to speed up recovery, improve the training results and overall performance.
It is also used to treat/aid:
- rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis
- frozen shoulder
- fibromyalgia
- tendonitis
- muscle and ligament strains
- skin conditions such as psoriasis and eczema
- Recovery from training
How does Cryotherapy help recovery for fitness related injuries?
Cryotherapy is one of the most common treatments for athletic injury. It is believed to decrease pain, attenuate swelling, decrease blood flow, slow nerve conduction, and limit secondary cell death.
How does a Cryotherapy Chamber work?
Cryotherapy warms your core, shrinks pores, and pushes blood to the surface of your skin. Blood and lymph flow, two of the most important things in your body, are greatly affected by cryotherapy. The process also flushes toxins, such as lactic acid, to help stimulate healing.
Is it safe to do cryotherapy often?
Whole body cryotherapy can be safely done up to a maximum of two times per day for athletes with intensive training programmes. This however, should be worked up to rather than starting at 2x a day immediately. For general wellness, 3-5 treatment sessions per week for the first month. For optimum health and wellness, 5 sessions per week for at least two weeks.
Does cryotherapy burn calories?
One bout of Whole-Body Cryotherapy has been shown to burn between 500 and 800 calories. That’s a lot of calories that get burned for standing in a tube for 3 minutes! That is equivalent to running for 40-60 minutes.
Can I do whole body cryotherapy if I am claustrophobic?
Whole-body cryotherapy doesn’t usually bother those with claustrophobia as the head remains fully outside of the chamber. Additionally, the chamber door is magnetic so that you can exit the session at any time.
